MoMo Helsinki – 30th May – Passion for Mobile Entrepreneurs

We are thrilled to announce this special MobileMonday event to to join with 250 international visiting delegates and hear exciting stories from various perspectives about what is it like to be an entrepreneur in the emerging mobile industry markets. Come to listen when the entertaining moderator André Noël Chaker interviews i.a. Nokia’s Head of Corporate Strategy Heikki Norta about the role that mobile phones can play to help to connect the next Billion people to the internet.

The event is organised by MobileMonday, City of Helsinki, and the World Bank Group’s infoDev, as a part of the 4th Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs of innovative start-ups – See the list of invited 50 SMEs – from around the world will be on stage, in addition, Finland will showcase GraphoREAD project and No Emission Monday concept.

Participants will have a fantastic opportunity to meet leaders of social networking hubs in cities Africa, Asia, or Europe, and to learn about opportunities to connect with developers, entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, partners and customers on the ground.

The evening will kick-off at 6:30 pm with the seminar session, followed by an occasion to network with international mobile influencers and innovators whilst enjoying a buffet and refreshments in MoMo spirit until 21:00 pm.

MoMo Helsinki 03.14 Mobile Trends from MWC, Microsoft & infoDev

What are the mobile trends and hot topics for spring 2011? The Mobile World Congress is always a good place to spot them, so let’s hear Timo Argillander from Digital Media Finland sum up the MWC talks about Nokia&Microsoft, operators in search for growth, buzz around mobile apps, mobile publishing and the latest gear. And when everyone seems to be talking about Nokia, we want to hear what’s happening at Microsoft, so let’s welcome Mika Okkola to the stage to share some insights.

Talking about mobile trends in 2011 we also need to remember the growing and vast potential of the developing countries. MoMo Helsinki The Finnish Stars of Mobile Games

What would be a better way to spend a Little Christmas party than learning more about the rising starts of the Finnish mobile scene? On the stage we will have two wizards of mobile games: Rovio sharing news on Angry Birds, and Grey Area Labs telling the story of Shadow Cities. Rovio is also the other one of the two Finnish mobile startups that made it to the finalists of the World Summit Mobile Awards organized by UN, in cooperation with MobileMonday. The finale will be held in Abu Dhabi in December.

And of course we also needed to get the other finalist here, so be prepared to welcome to the stage Newelo from Tampere city. Never heard of them? Then it’s about time. There must be something special about their solutions for the media industry and field force management renewal that made them get so far in such a tough international competition – so come and hear what it is and what plans these guys have in mind for the future of Newelo.

Liisa Kanniainen has around 15 years of working experience with the mobile IT Industry, focusing on the mobile financial services. In 2001 she changed to Nordea Bank and Mobey Forum in order to full time concentrate on creating the cross-industry collaboration required for making the mobile financial services market as the Mobey Forum Workgroup Executive. In Nordea she has been in charge of mobile financial services on corporate level. In Mobey Forum she carries since Feb 2007 the full operational responsibility of all activities and daily management of the Forum as the Executive Director of the rapidly growing cross-industry consortium.

Liisa Kanniainen is a well-known and knowledgeable industry expert who often contributes the industry conferences as Chairman or Keynote presenter.

After several years there he moved back to the states and San Francisco and started his focus on digital design during the peaks and valleys of the dotcom explosion, during which time he worked for numerous agencies and had his own design company, Morphology. Curt then moved to Seattle to start a digital department within Publicis in the West focusing on business with T-Mobile.

Before joining Fjord, Curt worked as Creative Director at Frog Design in Stuttgart, Germany. He collaborated with clients such as Yello Strom and Nero developing highly usable, branded and unique experiences across multiple platforms including desktop, mobile and web.
