Members FAQ

Welcome Aboard! — this platform provides features which enables our members to connect and socially interact with each other. Read-on for few tips about what you can do here.

Main Functions

  • Custom Profiles: Allows members to create profile files with searchable details index
  • Private Messaging: Allows all members to contact each other directly via internal mail
  • Friends: Members can use this to create friends list like they do on sites like Facebook and Ning
  • Groups: Allows members to create groups to share info on topic areas that interest them.
  • Activity Stream: Logs all activity site wide of all members across the entire platform.
  • Forums: Allows members to join and create forum topics dedicated to established groups.

Create an Account
Register Your Profile: A unique user name with valid email address *for account activation key* is naturally required, allowing multiple separate company and personal profiles to be created.
*Note: The system will auto-respond to your registered email address with a dedicated URL key in order to activate the account*

Upon log in you will be auto-directed to your profile page which includes a clear tabbed menu structure to admin your account. Upload an avatar image sized at 150×150 and be sure to include fully formatted HTTP:// url’s for any additional (optional) out-bounds links.

Editing Your Custom Profile
We have a dedicated sample page with handy screen-shots HERE

Private Messaging
This feature works like an internal site email similar to the Inbox in Facebook and Ning. Each member has their own individual Inbox, Sentbox, and Compose page. They are notified of new messages by the Notifications tab in their top navigation bar as well as by email notification as per screen below. You must be friends 1st to exchange messages.

Being friends, like in Facebook, automatically brings up your friend’s details as you type their name in Send To. And like Facebook, you can send messages to multiple friends.

Add Friends
The friend feature is a similar concept to friends in Facebook and on Ning sites. The friends list feature enables members to connect with each other and display a visible list of their friends. To add a member to their friend list all they need to do is visit their profile and click on the Add Friend button, the other member will receive a friend request and can either accept it or ignore it.

Activity Streams
A similar concept to Latest Activity on Ning networks and Recent Activity in Facebook. Updates are auto-added to any component so that forum posts, friend requests, joining groups, and any other activities are immediately recorded into the top page conversation. Members can use activity streams to follow the pulse site wide, just for their friends, or just for their groups. They can also grab the RSS feed from activity streams to use in Feed Readers and RSS Widgets.

Object Embed allows users to share content from the following sites:

  • YouTube
  • Blip.tv
  • Vimeo
  • DailyMotion
  • Flickr
  • Hulu
  • Viddler
  • Qik
  • Revision3
  • Photobucket
  • Scribd
  • Wordpress.tv

Input *Any* URL from one of the listed sites above into an activity update or forum post.

About Forums
Forums are similar to Ning forums except:

  • Nings have a discussion forum for their entire ning network and then separate forums for any groups. To post in a group forum you must join that group.
  • The forums are designed to allow groups to create and manage their own forums; it doesn’t provide a discussion forum for the entire network.

However, members can easily search all public forum topics using the Forums page. Any member can post reply to a forum post, or start a forum topic in any public group, even if they aren’t a group member. Adding a post or replying will auto join them to that group.

About Groups
Groups work like the group features on Ning, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Any registered member can join public, private or hidden (invitation only) group(s) where they can share info on topic areas that interest them. Note, the global site admin has immediate full access to all public, private and hidden groups with the ability to edit – and where deemed necessary delete – it’s activities. Currently Groups can only be created by MoMo Admin. if you would like to Suggest a Group Please Contact Us with details.

Besides an activity stream, members list and ability to send invites groups can have their own:

  • Wire – great for quick short messages members want to share with the entire group
  • Forum – ideal for more in-depth discussions and exchange with the entire network

Roles of Group Members
The three roles you can assign members in groups in decreasing level of responsibility are:

1. Admin – highest level of group access. Full access to managing all aspects of the group.
2. Moderator – has increased responsibility within the group forum and comment plus the ability to post news.
3. Member – Able to write/edit/delete own forum posts/replies and comment wires.

Additional Tip
By adding the @ mark to a members name it will become hot-link to their profile and send them a message (note: notifications are controlled under your account settings tab) with link to view that thread and respond.

Otherwise, please note we expect several additional features will become available here in short order. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy using the rev. 1 version of this new site and will see fit to share the news with your wider network.

Cheers!

@admin

    Hi,

love the new interactive website -congrats!

I was wondering what happened to the bloghive- is this permanently inactive now?

Think it would be great to have some blogfeeds included.
